President Muhammad
Buhari is ill and currently in London on a 10-day medical vacation during
which he is scheduled to see Ear, Nose and Throat doctors in relation to what
the Presidency described as his persistent ear infection.
Sequel
to this the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal,
on Wednesday confirmed that the President and three of his ministers are
currently indisposed.
This was made known during the opening
prayer at the beginning of a meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided
over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the Council Chamber of the Presidential
Villa, Abuja.
The vice president asked the Minister of
Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed led the Islamic prayer while Mr. Babachir
Lawal was chosen to lead the Christian prayer.
Both asked God to grant the cabinet
members wisdom as they make national decisions at the meeting and that God
should grant the President and his ministers quick recovery.
The three sick ministers are; the
Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who is suffering from back pain, Minister
of Women Affairs, Mrs. Aisha Alhassan currently recuperating in US after a
surgery and the Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Jibril whose nature
of illness is undisclosed.
